Ingredients
  • tequila blanco2 oz
  • fresh lime juice1.5 oz
  • Cointreau (triple sec)0.5 oz
  • spicy tamarind syrup (see below)1.5 oz
  • Tajn or chili-salt for rim (optional)to taste
Instructions
  1. 1Combine water, sugar, tamarind concentrate/paste, and crushed dried bird's-eye chiles in a small saucepan.
  2. 2Bring just to a boil.
  3. 3Stir until the sugar dissolves.
  4. 4Cool completely.
  5. 5Strain the syrup.
  6. 6Bottle the syrup.
  7. 7Chill the syrup before use.
  8. 8Rim a rocks glass with Tajín or chili-salt.
  9. 9Fill the glass with ice.
  10. 10Add tequila, lime juice, Cointreau, and spicy tamarind syrup to a shaker with ice.
  11. 11Shake well.
  12. 12Strain into the prepared glass over fresh ice.
  13. 13Garnish with a lime wedge.
