Ingredients
  • Japanese whisky (e.g., Suntory Toki or Kakubin)45 ml (1.5 oz)
  • Chilled soda water135–180 ml (3–4 parts to 1 part whisky)
  • Iceto fill glass
  • Grapefruit peel or lemon peel (optional)twist
Instructions
  1. 1Chill the highball glass, whisky, and soda water in advance.
  2. 2Fill a highball glass with ice.
  3. 3Let it chill.
  4. 4Add the chilled whisky.
  5. 5Stir briefly.
  6. 6Top with chilled soda water at about 3–4 parts soda to 1 part whisky.
  7. 7Stir gently once from bottom to top.

  • Garnish with a grapefruit or lemon peel, if desired.
