  • Fresh ginger, peeled and very thinly sliced3-inch piece (for ginger simple syrup)
  • Iceas needed
  • Bourbon2 oz
  • Lime juicejuice of 1 lime
  • Ginger simple syrup2 Tbsp (from above)
  • Egg white1 (optional)
  • Fresh ginger1/2-inch piece, for rim
  • Lime wedgegarnish

👨‍🍳Instructions

  1. Combine sugar, water, and sliced ginger in a small saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Bring to a boil.
  3. Stir to dissolve sugar.
  4. Boil for 6 minutes.
  5. Remove from heat.
  6. Let cool to room temperature.
  7. Strain, pressing on solids.
  8. Discard ginger.
  9. Fill a cocktail shaker with ice.
  10. Add bourbon, lime juice, ginger simple syrup, and egg white.
  11. Shake until well chilled.
  12. Rim a glass with a cut piece of ginger.
  13. Strain the drink into the glass.
  14. Garnish with a lime wedge and a maraschino cherry.
