Lavender Basil Lemonade

Ingredients
  • Dried culinary lavender1 tablespoon
  • Fresh basil, roughly chopped (plus more for garnish)3/4 cup
  • Honey (or coconut/granulated sugar)1/3–1/2 cup
  • Water5 cups (divided: 2 cups + 3 cups)
  • Freshly squeezed lemon juice1 cup
  • Icefor serving
Instructions
  1. 1Bring lavender and 2 cups water to a boil in a small saucepan.
  2. 2If using granulated or coconut sugar, add it to the water as it heats.
  3. 3Remove from heat.
  4. 4Add basil.
  5. 5Cover.
  6. 6Steep 10 minutes.
  7. 7Add lemon juice to a pitcher.
  8. 8Stir in honey (unless sugar was added earlier).
  9. 9Add remaining 3 cups water.
  10. 10Strain the lavender–basil infusion into the pitcher.
  11. 11Stir.
  12. 12Adjust with additional water or honey to taste.
  13. 13Chill.
  14. 14Serve over crushed ice.
