🥃Ingredients

  • Rye whiskey (Sazerac Rye preferred)1.5 oz
  • Sugar cube1 cube
  • Peychaud’s Bitters3 dashes
  • Herbsaint (for rinse)0.25 oz
  • Lemon peel1 twist

👨‍🍳Instructions

  1. Pack an Old-Fashioned glass with ice to chill.
  2. Place a sugar cube in a second Old-Fashioned glass.
  3. Add Peychaud’s Bitters.
  4. Crush to dissolve the sugar.
  5. Add rye whiskey.
  6. Add ice.
  7. Stir to chill.
  8. Discard the ice from the first glass.
  9. Add Herbsaint to coat the inside of the first glass.
  10. Discard the excess Herbsaint.
  11. Strain the whiskey–bitters–sugar mixture into the Herbsaint-rinsed glass.
  12. Express a lemon peel over the drink.
  13. Garnish with the peel.
