Ingredients
  • water6 cups
  • cream soda2 (12 oz) cans
  • brown sugar1 cup
  • unsalted butter1 stick (1/2 cup)
  • butterscotch syrup (divided)1/2 cup
  • cinnamon sticks3
  • vanilla1 tsp
  • salt1/2 tsp
  • spiced rum2 cups
  • whipped cream (for serving)to taste
  • gold sanding sugar (for serving)to taste
Instructions
  1. 1In a slow cooker, combine water, cream soda, brown sugar, butter, 1/4 cup butterscotch syrup, cinnamon sticks, vanilla, and salt.
  2. 2Cover the slow cooker.
  3. 3Cook on Low for 3 to 3 1/2 hours, until warm and the butter is melted.
  4. 4Remove the lid.
  5. 5Stir in the spiced rum.
  6. 6Pour the remaining butterscotch syrup onto a shallow plate.
  7. 7Dip the rims of mugs in the syrup.
  8. 8Fill mugs with the butterbeer.
  9. 9Top with whipped cream.
  10. 10Sprinkle with gold sanding sugar.
  11. 11Serve.
